Why does women-only space matter?

Recently, the necessity of women-only political groups, transition houses and rape crisis centres has been called into question in Canadian media and beyond. Join us for a discussion about the importance of sex-segregated places and political organizing for women in Canada. The event is organized in collaboration with the Feminist Coalition of Canada / Coalition Féministe du Canada.

Panelists include Sharon McIvor, professor of Indigenous Academic Studies and Criminology at Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, British Columbia, Cherry Smiley, Trudeau Scholar and PhD candidate in Concordia's Department of Communication Studies, and Jennie-Laure Sully, community organizer at the Concertation des luttes contre l'exploitation sexuelle and researcher at the Institute for Socio-Economic Information and Research.
