Elective group in equity, diversity & inclusion
In a world where issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion are increasingly recognized as crucial to our success as a society, this elective group provides grounding in the basics of these issues.
The elective group in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is a 15-credit program that will add value to and complement any degree you're pursuing.
Overview
The main goals of the Elective Group are to introduce students to current issues in gender, Indigeneity, sexuality, race and ethnicity, and cultural studies, while simultaneously deepening their understanding of how institutions change and/or are resistant to transformation.
The Elective Group supports its vision through broad, flexible, interdisciplinary course offerings from across the Faculty of Arts and Science, allowing students to tailor their curriculum to their individual needs and interests while seeking expertise and insight from outside of their major discipline.
Course requirements
Students in this elective group must take 15 credits of coursework in the area of equity, diversity and inclusion.

- Cultural Studies Courses
- Gender and Sexuality Courses
- Indigenous Studies Courses
- Race and Ethnicity Courses

- LOYC 230 Globalization and Diversity (3 credits)
- LOYC 298 Selected Topics in the Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability (3 credits)
Note: Students who select a LOYC 298 course must have the topic pre-approved by the Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability
