Undergraduate advising
Undergraduate students have access to the department academic advisor, as well as the Faculty of Arts and Science.
NEW STUDENTS: Congratulations on your acceptance! We are very happy that you have decided to pursue your studies with us.
Advising within AHSC
Generally, you can perform your own self-assessment any time using the worksheets.
All AHSC undergraduate students are encouraged to contact the department academic advisor annually to ensure they will meet the requirements of their program and the university.
If you have questions or want to make a change to your program, make an appointment with the AHSC Undergraduate Coordinator, Alison Piela, at alison.piela@concordia.ca.
If you are struggling with your courseload, reach out for advising. We can offer solutions and advice to improve your standing.
If you want to change your concentration to or add a:
- Minor, Major, or Specialization in Human Relations
- Major or Specialization in Recreation and Leisure Studies
- Specialization in Therapeutic Recreation
Example: from a BA to a BA.
Requirements
Students must have completed a minimum of 24 credits at Concordia, with a CGPA of:
- 2.7 for Human Relations and Therapeutic Recreation
- 2.0 for Recreation and Leisure Studies
Your application
1. A letter of intent (maximum 2 pages), which should cover the following areas:
- Program you wish to enter
- Reason for your choice
- How does the program relate to your learning goals and your career goals?
- List of previous and current work/volunteer experience that might qualify you for this program
- If you think any element of your academic record is not reflective of your true potential, please explain
2. A completed and signed Change of Concentration form.
Submit your application in PDF format to alison.piela@concordia.ca. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Application deadlines
- March 1 – Fall term
- November 1 – Winter term
- Applications are not processed for the summer term
Disclaimer: Due to high demand, competition and limited space, AHSC cannot guarantee that all qualified applicants meeting the minimum admission requirements will gain entry into any AHSC program. Acceptance to an AHSC concentration is not automatic.
To transfer your degree (from a BA to a BComm), you will need to understand your options and how to proceed.
Student Academic Services
As a student in the Department of Applied Human Sciences, within the Faculty of Arts and Science, you also have access to Student Academic Services (SAS). Their team can help you with student requests, readmission forms, transfer requests and more.
