POST A VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

CAPS volunteer opportunity bank parameters

  • Keep in mind that Career Advising and Professional Success does not have a bank of volunteers to match your opportunity. If you are looking to promote a specific event or need volunteers to respond before a specific date, we recommend that you post your opportunity at least three to four weeks in advance to increase your chances of finding volunteers.
  • We do not perform any screening or background checks with potential volunteers. Your organization is fully responsible for screening volunteers.
  • We do not post opportunities for organizations with political or religious affiliations.
  • We do not post opportunities for foreign organizations. If your group works in partnership with an accredited Canadian organization, you can ask this organization to post on your behalf.

  • Volunteer roles must offer meaningful engagement and skill development. Tasks should not replace paid staff or consist solely of menial tasks unless clearly tied to a learning outcome.
  • Opportunities should respect students’ academic and personal commitments. We recommend a maximum of 8–10 hours per week during the academic term, unless otherwise agreed upon with the volunteer.
  • Posts should include: a clear role description, expected time commitment, location (in person or remote), required skills or training, and the impact or purpose of the role. Please provide as much information as possible.
  • We reserve the right to edit your post or to remove it from our listings if it does not provide us with enough information to appropriately guide potential volunteers.
