Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to develop AI-driven methods for supporting aging in place through smart home technologies. The successful candidate will work on occupant sensing, behavioural modelling, health and well-being monitoring, and intelligent decision-making using multimodal data, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary academic, healthcare, and industry partners.
Desired Traits
- Strong experience in occupant comfort modelling, particularly for non-traditional occupant groups such as older adults or vulnerable populations.
- Expertise in indoor environmental quality (IEQ) measurements and modelling, including thermal comfort, indoor air quality, lighting, and acoustics.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to publish scientific papers and prepare technical reports.
- Flexibility and willingness to contribute to related research projects within the lab and collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Ph.D. in Engineering or a closely related discipline, preferably with research focused on occupant comfort modelling, indoor environmental quality, or smart buildings.
- Experience with indoor environmental monitoring, including the use of environmental sensors and data acquisition systems.
- Proficiency in data analytics and modelling using Python and/or MATLAB, with experience handling large and complex datasets.
- Experience with numerical modelling and simulation using ANSYS software (or comparable engineering simulation tools).
