Provincial Elections 2022

The Quebec Provincial Elections will take place on October 3, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. As in the past, Concordia will host polling stations for the general public and the Concordia community on Sir George Williams Campus for advance polling. Election day polling will be reserved for associated electoral districts.  

On campus voting for the Concordia community 

Concordia is one of several post-secondary campuses in Montreal to host early on-campus voting. All eligible students, faculty and staff are welcome to vote on campus on the dates listed below, regardless of their district, in the LB atrium (1400 Boul. De Maisonneuve Ouest, Montréal, Québec). 

Dates and times: 

  • Friday, September 23, between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 27, between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 28, between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 29, between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Advance polling for the Westmount-Saint Louis district

Voters from the general public with the LB Atrium, J.W. McConnell Building (1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.) listed on their voter information card as their advance polling station will be able to vote on campus. 

Dates and times: 

  • Sunday, September 25, between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Monday, September 26, between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Election Day for the Westmount-Saint Louis district

Only voters from the Westmount-Saint Louis electoral district will be able to vote on campus on election day. The elections will take place from 9:30 a.m to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 3.

Election day for the Concordia community

All classes and instructional activities are cancelled on October 3

Under the Québec Election Act, students are given the day off to vote.This means all instructional activities at Concordia, including day and evening classes, tutorials, labs and studio sessions are cancelled on Monday, October 3, 2022.

  • Concordia buildings and libraries will remain open.
  • Make-up dateWednesday, October 12, 2022

Professors are responsible for notifying their students about whether classes or other academic activities, normally held on October 3, are to be rescheduled on October 12.

Time off to vote

Under the Québec Election Act, faculty and staff are allowed to take four consecutive hours to vote. Concordia will close its administrative offices at 4 p.m. on October 3 to provide faculty and staff with the required time to vote. 

Employees who work hours outside of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. should communicate with their managers to ensure they have the required four hours off to vote.

Only voters from the Westmount-Saint Louis electoral district will be able to vote on campus on election day, October 3, 2022. 

If you are eligible to vote on campus on election day, please check your voter information card closely to verify which bilding is your designated voting location. Different sections of the Westmount-Saint Louis electoral district are assigned to different locations.

Advance polling stations for the Westmount-Saint Louis electoral district will be set up on September 25 and 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. for people whose voter information card indicates this as their assigned polling station. 

 

Advance polling stations for the Concordia community will be set up at Concordia on September 23, 27 and 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and  on September 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the LB Atrium, J.W. McConnell Building (1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W.).

Yes, the university will remain open during advance polling unless otherwise specified. Instructional activities will remain the same. 

Yes, the university will remain open on election day until 4 p.m. unless otherwise specified but all instructional activities at Concordia will be cancelled on Monday, October 3, 2022. This including day and evening classes, tutorials, labs and studio sessions.
