Religious or faith community

  • 45% of census respondents identified as members of a religious or faith community. This is a lower percentage than found among the Canadian population (68%).

  • Younger students, 48% of those aged 24 years old or less, students who self-identified as a racialized person (60%) and those who are members of a linguistic minority group (57%) are more likely to be a member of a religious or faith community.

  • Conversely, lower proportions of members of a gender-diverse community (25%), 2SLGBTQIA+ communities more broadly (29%) or respondents with a disability or impairment (36%) indicate being a member of a religious or faith community.
