How to access the VA building during restricted hours

On March 23, 2026, new access controls will be put in place at the Visual Arts (VA) building after 5 p.m. on weekdays and throughout weekends.
During these times, entry to the VA building will require scanning one of the following access cards:
For faculty and staff:
- A Concordia access card.

For students:
- A Concordia student ID card with VA building access activated.
- Not all Concordia ID cards allow access. Please check which card you have on the VA building access webpage.

Regular and restricted hours access
Regular hours
- Weekdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- No access card required.
Restricted access
- Weekdays after 5 p.m. and all day on weekends.
- An access enabled card is required
After hours access
- Everyday after 11 p.m.
- Undergraduate students require:
- An access-enabled card, and
- Special permission from the Department of Studio Arts
- Faculty, staff and graduate students require:
- An access-enabled card
Units, partners, and service providers
Anyone hosting events or meetings at the VA building during restricted hours must arrange access in advance through Campus Safety and Prevention Services (CSPS) by emailing csps@concordia.ca. This ensures doors are unlocked for guests who do not have an access card.
Planning ahead will help ensure smooth, safe, and secure access to the VA building.
