MB/GM/LB Buildings: Emergency power interruption - July 28, and August 03, 05, 2026
To the users and occupants of the MB, GM, and LB buildings,
A planned interruption of the emergency power is SCHEDULED for Tuesday 2026-07-28 in the MB, Monday 2026-08-03 in the GM, and Wednesday 2026-08-05 in the LB. This interruption is necessary to perform preventative maintenance including inspection of the generator required quinquennial maintenance.
- During annual maintenance and load bank testing, a two-hour operational test will be conducted. Unlike the tests performed during semi-annual maintenance, the building’s load will not be applied during these tests. Therefore, no observable current fluctuations will occur.
- Load banks (electrical component units) will therefore be connected to the generators to simulate electricity consumption at levels higher than the building’s load.
- Following this load bank test, mechanical inspections and maintenance will be performed on the generators. Example: oil change. The generator will be out of service.
Buildings
- S- MB / John Molson School of Business
- S- GM / Guy-De Maisonneuve Building
- S- LB / Webster Library Building
****Tests will begin at 06:30 for all the above buildings
General Information
- During these interruptions, emergency lighting and any equipment connected to emergency outlets that are not supported by an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) will be affected.
- Normal electrical power will not be affected by this maintenance.
- Generator maintenance will cause two 10-second emergency power interruptions.
We thank you for your understanding.
