To the occupants and users of the Loyola campus,

We are completing an electrical upgrading project that has been underway for the past year, therefore several buildings on Loyola campus will be closed for power upgrades for five consecutive days, from Monday, May 22 to Friday, May 26.

Affected buildings include Physical Service (PS), Student Centre (SC), the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall (PT), Vanier Library (VL) and the Vanier Extension (VE). For safety reasons access to these buildings will not be granted except to project personnel during this time. A security agent will be touring the premises to ensure fire safety measures are met and to prevent access to unauthorized personnel.

A four-hour electrical shutdown affecting the following additional eight buildings will take place overnight between Thursday, May 25 and Friday, May 26:

  • Administrative Building (AD)
  • Central Building (CC)
  • Loyola Jesuit Hall and Conference Centre (RF)
  • Psychology Building (PY)
  • F.C. Smith Building (FC)
  • Hingston Hall (HA, HB, HC)

Faculty and staff are urged to properly shutdown their computers and electronic equipment on Friday, May 19 to avoid any issues linked to power fluctuations. Kitchenette fridges should be emptied as well.

This project is being undertaken to update obsolete infrastructure and will add electrical capacity, increase efficiency and provide more reliable service across campus.

The timing of this shutdown has been carefully evaluated to ensure the least possible disruption. Classes taking place in these buildings will be temporarily relocated during the shutdown week. For questions please contact your respective departments and instructors.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause you.
