It was a lofty night for Michel Nadeau.

On the evening of November 6, 2015, the associate vice-president of Facilities Management at Concordia University was honoured at the Elixir Gala, the annual event where the Montreal chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) celebrates excellence in project management in Quebec.

Nadeau was chosen to receive the Prix élixir – ESG UQAM – Carrière, a prize granted by the École des sciences de la gestion de l’Université du Québec à Montréal, in recognition of his contribution to the practice of project management, as well as his extensive experience as one of the most prominent public sector clients in Quebec.

Prior to joining Concordia in June, Nadeau was director of real asset strategies and transactions for the City of Montreal, managing an annual budget of $50M to 120M per year for projects, including professional services and construction contracts. He has been a member of PMI, at one time holding the position of vice-president of the Montreal chapter.

As the winner of an Elixir award, Nadeau was given a hand-blown sculpture designed by Québécoise Karine Bouchard exclusively for the event.

Nadeau was in good company that evening. His former mentor, Brian Hobbs, was appointed Fellow of PMI. Hobbs now chairs the business school at UQAM.

Additionally, two students from the John Molson School of Business were also recognized, one with a Relève award, and the other with a bursary.

Let Michel Nadeau continue his path of excellence by completing his department’s annual Facilities Management survey, either in English or French. The results will highlight areas for improvement.

Faculty, staff and students have until January 15, 2016, to fill out the questionnaire and be entered into a draw to win a $200 gift card for the Concordia Bookstore. All data remain confidential.
