In partnership with the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Fazio established an endowment fund —The Professor Fazio Award Endowment — which today is worth almost $400,000 and yields scholarships to four top building engineering students each year.
Amir Asif, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science noted: "Perhaps Paul’s greatest legacy was his role to help secure funds for his namesake Solar Simulator Environmental Chamber, a Henry F. Hall Building facility that helps researchers find new ways to make buildings energy-efficient."
Fazio created the Centre for Building Studies in 1977 and was its leader for two decades. Under his guidance, Concordia became the first Canadian university to establish accredited building engineering programs for both undergraduates and graduates.
