After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which kick off the holiday shopping season and boost the retail economy, comes a day to think of others.

Giving Tuesday is designated to remember charitable organizations and the people they help.

The GivingTuesday organization unites non-profits across North America and encourages supporters to give on this day.

“As the holiday season approaches and we start making our gift lists, we’re asking Concordians to remember their alma mater — and give on December 2 to support our students,” says Sophie Johnson, development officer, Advancement and Alumni Relations.

Donors can choose among dozens of possibilities, including:

  • Scholarships, fellowships and bursaries for deserving students
  • Libraries, entering a major transformation project in 2015
  • Individual projects promoted through our FundOne crowdfunding platform
  • Concordia’s greatest needs

“For the person on your gift list who has everything, why not consider making a gift in their honour to Concordia?” suggests Johnson. Donors can give in tribute to a loved one or friend using the online donation form or by calling in their gift.

“And those who have never given before may be eligible for a special tax credit,” she adds.
