Concordia chancellor receives two prestigious honours

Concordia Chancellor Gina Cody, MEng 81, PhD 89, has been recognized with two prestigious distinctions for her exceptional leadership and transformative impact in engineering and in advancing women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
Cody’s trailblazing career and steadfast advocacy have earned her the King Charles III’s Coronation Medal, awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canada or attained outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to our nation.
What’s more, Cody has been reappointed as Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of the 34 Combat Engineer Regiment (CER) of the Canadian Armed Forces — a ceremonial role reflecting her commitment to service and leadership.
Cody spent over three decades in the private sector as an engineer, corporate executive and principal shareholder of a national engineering firm. Following her retirement, Cody dedicated herself to philanthropy and advocacy. She enthusiastically promotes equity, diversity and inclusion in the STEM fields.
In 2018, her historic $15-million gift to the faculty she twice graduated from led to its renaming as the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science.
Each year, Cody is invited to headline dozens of events for major corporations and non-profits. She began her three-year term as chancellor on January 1, 2025.
