The Board of Governors approved the two-year extension of the Concordia University Faculty Association’s (CUFA) current agreement at its meeting on October 21.

The current agreement expires on May 31, 2021. With the extension, the union’s contract is now in place until May 31, 2023.

“We are very pleased the university and CUFA partnered together to come to this positive resolution,” says Nadia Hardy, interim deputy provost and vice-provost of faculty development and inclusion.

“Both teams worked diligently to approve this extension, well in advance of the expiry of the current agreement.”

Ian Rakita, president of CUFA, also commends the teams for their efforts, especially since talks took place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The discussions happened in the context of some challenging times and we are pleased to have reached a positive conclusion,” Rakita says.

CUFA represents more than 1,000 full-time faculty members and professional librarians at Concordia.
