Classes have begun, and there’s a lot going on to keep you busy. With that in mind, make sure to watch out for these important dates.

September 20: Waitlisting for classes ends

On September 20 – 24 hours before the DNE deadline of September 21 – waitlisting for classes will be closed.

If you’re on a waitlist for a class and the system enrolls you in it, you’ll receive an automated email to confirm this (so it’s important to check your email regularly). You’ll have at least 24 hours to drop the class if you don’t want it, without being responsible for paying the tuition and other related fees.

You can remove your name from a waitlist in advance if you want to avoid any unwanted class registrations.

September 21: Last day to drop a course (DNE)

Monday, September 21 is the deadline to drop a course for fall 2015 (one-term) and fall/winter (two-term), without having to pay for it, or having it appear on your academic record (DNE – Did Not Enter).

If you drop a class after the DNE date, you’ll still be responsible for paying the tuition and other associated fees. Plus, you’ll receive a DISC (discontinued) notation on your academic record.

September 21: Last day to register for a class

You can register for classes up until September 21. If you need help navigating My Student Centre to make section changes for courses that have begun this fall, you can call our new hotline: 514-848-2424, extension 2200, open from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. until the DNE (Sept. 21).

You can also learn how to register for a course, and have access to dozens of related tasks by referring to the many how-to guides on the SIS information page.

September 23: Last day to opt out of your student health and dental plan

If you’re an undergraduate student – and have registered for more than three credits and are paying tuition fees at either the Canadian or Quebec rates – you’re automatically covered by the CSU Health and Dental Plan. If you’re a graduate student, you’re automatically covered by the GSA Health Insurance Plan. These costs are included on your statement of account.

However, if you’re covered by another private insurer, you can opt out of this fee during the established opt-out period, which ends Wednesday, September 23, 2015.

To opt out, visit the Quebec Student Health Alliance and complete the online opt-out process.

If you’re an international student, please contact the International Student Office for more information about your mandatory health insurance coverage while studying in Montreal.

September 30: Last day to pay tuition and fees

Wednesday, September 30 is the final deadline to pay your tuition and other related fees for the 2015 fall term. You can confirm the balance owing on your account in the My Student Centre self-service dashboard, accessible through the MyConcordia portal.

If your payment doesn’t appear on your student account by September 30, 2015, you’ll be charged a $75 late payment fee. Monthly interest fees will also be charged. It’s important to remember that it can take three to five business days for your financial institution or bank to process your payment.

Please note: Concordia no longer mails or issues printed invoices or statements of accounts.
