Hétu, a Special Individualized Program student, is researching new and alternative forms of the book under the supervision of Ollivier Dyens, professor in the Études françaises department and Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning.

She earned the people’s choice award in the contemporary category for Baie Déception, narrated by Julie McClemens and Patrick Hivon. Members of the public voted online in three categories.

The book begins when Isaac Etok, raised by his grandparents in Nunavik, receives his mother’s diary after she commits suicide. The story is told by the two characters, with musical accompaniment by Simon Angell.

In all, seven prizes were granted in the 10th edition of the Prix de Livre Audio. The ceremony took place in early June at Paris’s Centre National du Livre.

Hétu attended the ceremony and was pleased when Katharina Von Bülow, who chaired the jury of eight arts professionals, sought her out to compliment the originality of her work.
