E-waste recycling bins to be removed from Concordia’s campuses by the end of December

Starting in 2025, the five e-waste recycling bins located on Concordia’s campuses will be removed.

The decision is part of a cost-saving measure as the university navigates a difficult financial situation.

"While we regret that we will not be renewing our contract with Electrobac this year, we remain optimistic that we will find innovative, effective solutions to continue offering e-waste recycling opportunities for the Concordia community," says Cassandra Lamontagne, manager of the Office of Sustainability.

The bins, which collect items such as chargers, cables, peripherals, small electronics and ink cartridges, can be found at the following locations:

• Second floor of the Henry F. Hall (H) Building
• Lobby of the J.W. McConnell (LB) Building
• Basement of the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (EV)
• Lobby of the John Molson (MB) Building
• Lobby of the Vanier Library (VL) Building

Students, faculty and staff have until December 20 to drop off their e-waste. After this date, individuals can refer to off-campus recycling options.
