September 25 student walkout demonstration
September 26, 2024
|
- On September 25, there was a walkout demonstration on our downtown campus.
- As always, Campus Safety and Prevention Services were onsite and the SPVM had been alerted in advance and was on standby near the Hall Building in case tensions escalated.
- Protestors briefly went to the MB and LS buildings and also blocked traffic on Guy at De Maisonneuve.
- One of our agents was assaulted by protesters while stopping an individual who was committing vandalism in the tunnel.
- Criminal acts such as the assault on security personnel and antisemitic graffiti are unacceptable.
- The SPVM arrested three of the protestors for criminal acts.
- Students can express themselves in a civil and respectful manner but Concordia will not tolerate violence, in any form, on campus.
- The university is still assessing yesterday’s event and will take appropriate actions against Code violations and/or criminal activities.
- If you have a concern about safety, contact Campus Safety and Prevention Services at security@concordia.ca.
- If you have a concern about a possible breach of the Code of Rights and Responsibilities, contact the Office of Rights and Responsibilities at rights@concordia.ca.
