The 2019 Simone de Beauvoir Summer Institute was a week-long (May 6-10, 2019) feminist course approached from a multi-disciplinary perspective (humanities, social sciences, visual and performing arts). A total of 61 undergraduate and graduate students attended, as well as a variety of community members. The 2019 Summer Institute consisted of workshops, panels and discussions led by 32 instructors and speakers from different provinces and countries. This year, the theme was “Feminist Activism and the Health Industries” and the curriculum was simply outstanding.

As in past years, the Réseau québécois en études féministes (RéQEF), Québec’s network for feminist studies, provided two $300 RéQEF Excellence Scholarships (one undergraduate and one graduate) to students having obtained the highest grade for the 2019 Simone de Beauvoir Summer Institute.

MA Film Studies student SARIKA JOGLEKAR has been awarded the 2019 RéQEF Excellence Scholarship for obtaining the highest final grade for the Simone de Beauvoir Summer Institute in the cross-listed course WSDB 398GA/FMST 670.
