Échos du Canal 2026: public art opportunity for emerging Concordia artists
The Faculty of Fine Arts, in collaboration with Provenance Art Advisory, is pleased to share a new opportunity for students and recent alumni:
Taking place in Griffintown in August 2026, this initiative offers emerging artists the opportunity to present work as part of a curated public art itinerary engaging directly with Montreal communities, public space, and the historic Lachine Canal area.
Eligibility
This call for submissions is open to current students and recent alumni (up to 3 years after graduation) from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Concordia University.
Artists are invited to propose innovative in situ or site-specific works responding to the history, evolution, and future of Griffintown and the Lachine Canal.
Exhibition dates
August 14, 15, 16 and August 21, 22, 23, 2026
Eligible formats
- In situ / site-specific installations
- Sculpture and spatial works
- Fragile, immersive, or hybrid / mixed media works
Awards & opportunities
Selected artists exhibiting in the Hangar space will automatically be considered for the Échos du Canal Grand Prix, which includes:
- A financial production and practice grant
- One year of fully covered studio space in Griffintown
- Curatorial and professional exposure through Provenance Art Advisory
There is no separate application required for the prize.
