On December 10, members of the CSLP community gathered at the Centre to celebrate the work of CSLP member Mitchell McLarnon and the growth of his Garden Project, an initiative that has become a source of connection, learning, and inspiration within and beyond the university.
The end-of-year gathering offered an opportunity to reflect on the project’s evolution and the many relationships it has helped cultivate.
Led by McLarnon, assistant professor in Concordia’s Department of Education, the Garden Project brings together garden-based, environmental, and climate change education through hands-on, community-rooted learning. Situated on the Grey Nuns grounds, the project emphasizes experiential learning, accessibility, and questions of sustainability and justice, while supporting educators and young people in developing meaningful relationships with the natural world.
The celebration highlighted how the project continues to grow from small, intentional beginnings—planting not only seeds in the soil, but also new ideas, collaborations, and possibilities for the year ahead.
