Starting a PhD can be both exciting and challenging. Whether you're just beginning your doctoral journey or navigating your first year, connecting with peers who understand the experience can make a meaningful difference.

The Doctoral Peer Mentorship Program brings together first-year doctoral students and experienced PhD mentors to foster connection, peer learning, and a sense of belonging. Through mentorship circles, one-on-one check-ins, office hours, and community events, the program creates opportunities to exchange experiences, navigate challenges, and access support throughout the first year.

This 1-hour information session will:

  • Introduce the program’s goals, structure, and opportunities for first-year PhD students.
  • Explore common challenges during the transition to doctoral studies and how peer mentorship can help.
  • Highlight how the program connects students with academic, professional development, and well-being resources.
  • Feature insights from current mentors about their experience and what they have learned from supporting their peers.
  • Provide opportunities to ask questions, meet the mentors, and explore how to get involved.

Whether you're a first-year PhD student interested in joining the program, a faculty or staff member supporting doctoral students, or someone interested in peer mentorship and student success, you're welcome to attend.
