Join the MiHR for an inspiring webinar with mining professional Mélanie LaRoche-Boisvert, P.Eng., M.Eng., in celebration of the International Day of Women in Mining (IDWIM).

Mélanie will share what sparked her interest in mining and her unique career pathway, explore the wide range of career opportunities in mining and emphasize the vital role of women’s voices in shaping the industry’s future. This webinar is a unique opportunity for young women to gain valuable insights into the sector, connect with a role model, and be inspired to discover their place in mining.

Mélanie LaRoche-Boisvert
Mining Engineer
ArcelorMittal Mines Canada

Mélanie is a mining engineer supporting on-site and corporate technical service teams at ArcelorMittal Mines Canada. Previously, she worked as a consultant at DRA Global, developing various studies and projects. She earned a Bachelor's of Mining Engineering at McGill University in 2018, and a Master's in Mining Engineering from McGill University in 2020. Her research focused on integrating mine-to-port transportation in the long-term stochastic simultaneous optimization of open pit mining complexes. Outside of work, Mélanie is quite involved in the mining industry. She is a member of CIM's Awards Committee and served as Co-Chair of the Technical Program for the 2025 CIM Connect Conference. She has been involved with Women in Mining Canada in various capacities for over 10 years. She has also previously been involved with Young Mining Professionals Toronto and Young Mining Professionals Scholarships. Mélanie is also active with the mining engineering students at McGill University, making herself available for support and guidance.

William Meyer is responsible for planning and providing strategic direction to effectively promote and build awareness of MiHR and its programs, projects and services. A strategic, results-oriented communications professional, William has nearly 15 years’ experience in the non-profit, association and government sectors – and has served as the head of communications for two industry associations. William also leads the development and implementation of marketing and communications activities that support all aspects of MiHR’s strategic plan.
