  • Bring something, get something: Bring items you want to donate and leave with something new to you, donated by other students.
  • Patch-making: Bring in damaged clothes and learn how to mend them, or how to make clothing patches from scrap fabric. Let's work together to reduce textile waste!

This event will include a buy-nothing, mutual aid clothing swap. You are invited to bring clothing or household items you no longer use and exchange them for items brought by others. The number of items you bring is the same number you may take (for example, bringing five items allows you to leave with five items).

Any items left in good condition at the end of the event will be donated to the Chez Doris women’s shelter.

We also encourage you to bring items that are typically rejected by thrift stores, such as clothing with small holes or stains. We will provide supplies and instructions for patching holes or creating fabric patches that can be sewn onto jeans or bags using scrap fabric. The goal is to reduce textile waste and keep materials out of landfills.

Facilitators

Lucy Feininger-Hughes (She/Her), Peer Wellness Ambassador and student in Interdisciplinary Studies in Sexuality
Aoife O’Conelle (She/They), student in Philosophy and in the Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability
