Stress and anxiety often show up in the body as uncomfortable physical sensations, such as a rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, dizziness, or muscle tension. These reactions can feel overwhelming and may intensify our sense of distress.

In the first session, you will receive a brief, accessible overview of how stress affects the body. The session will also focus on learning and practicing practical, body-based strategies designed to help calm these physical responses and increase a sense of control during stressful moments.

Learning Objectives

  • Develop a general understanding of how stress and anxiety are maintained in the body
  • Learn and practice concrete, body-centered techniques to reduce the physical impact of stress

Facilitator

Lisa Tomlinson, Psychotherapist
