Shauna Janssen, Associate Professor, Faculty of Fine Arts, is leading research-creation activities that engage with theme and spatial politics of radical hospitality. Janssen is collaborating with a team of performance makers and designers to undertake performative and somatic inquiries with technologies of capture. The project builds on Janssen’s ongoing project, this space is for you, a platform for taking up queer disorientation, pluriversal scenographic design practices and feminist technoscience studies as embodied methodologies for creating with technologies of capture. This iteration of the project engages with the capacity that immersive environments have to reveal and stage atmospherics of hospitality.
How can extended reality (XR) environments be experienced as hostile or hospitable environments? What can embodied engagements with technologies of capture teach us about staging inclusive and pluralistic environments?
