This reading group explores current issues at the intersection of science and society, with a focus on science writing and communication. The group provides a platform for participants to discuss latest research, share ideas, develop practices, and hone skills to support effective public science communication across media. The focus of the Fall 2026 discussion will be Writing, AI, and Scientific Communication.

Learning outcomes:  

By the end of this reading circle, participants will be able to:

  • Share tools and advice to communicate clearly, engagingly, and accessibly about science.
  • Gain confidence in discussing science with the public.
  • Apply insights from the group to incorporate teaching of science literacy and communication in their courses.
  • Develop transferable skills valuable for research, teaching, outreach, and careers beyond academia.
  • Contribute to a supportive intellectual community centered on communication, critical thinking, feedback, and shared learning.
