In higher education, internships are often seen as the sole pathway to building professional skills. However, being involved in a dynamic research community can open up a much wider range of hands-on professional experiences.
This roundtable explores how this hands-on approach plays out in student leadership and translates beyond the university. From coordinating large-scale events and managing budgets to hiring, promoting events, and leading workshops, community leadership cultivates versatile skills that employers value well beyond academia.
To explore these dynamics, we are bringing together members with diverse backgrounds and leadership experiences to share their journeys, insights, and lessons learned: Shahrom Ali, Marc Lajeunesse, Brennan McCracken and Geneviève Moisan.
