Vernissage of The Let Down Reflex at the FOFA Gallery

Join us to celebrate the opening of FOFA’s summer exhibition, The Let Down Reflex on July 10, from 5 to 7 p.m.

As part of the opening on July 10, the artist Dillon de Give will be performing, alongside parent participants, The Production of a Routine, at 6pm at EV 4.502. 

Between July 10 and August 21, the FOFA Gallery will present works by Dillon de Give, Home Affairs, Jacqueline Hoàng Nguyễn, Leisure (Meredith Carruthers & Susannah Wesley), Lise Haller Baggesen, LoVid, Rachel Kauder Nalebuff, Shani K. Parsons & Kerri-Lynn Reeves

The Let Down Reflex (LDR) is an ongoing research project, co-organized by Amber Berson and Juliana Driever, that proudly advocates for artist-parents and caretakers, and their professional participation in the art world. Spanning ten years, LDR creates a radical presence for families in spaces where they are typically absent, centering advocacy and caretaking in its organization and conceptual framework. 

Families are welcome. The gallery will offer a nursing space, stroller parking, and snacks and juice for children. The space is wheelchair accesible. 

About Dillon de Give's performance:

Bedtime. There was a period in my life when I spent more time and creative energy putting my toddler to bed than making art. It was a struggle. But the more we worked on it, the better we got at it. It became a routine and a kind of private performance we did most days. Each caregiver of a child develops such a routine. By our own admission, those routines are imperfect. The Production of a Routine is a performance which invites a small group of caregivers to enact or discuss their evening routines.

Join us on July 23rd at 6pm, for the performance The Cycles, by Rachel Kauder Nalebuff with 3 actors will take place in the gallery.

The Let Down Reflex (LDR) est un projet de recherche en continuité, coorganisé par Amber Berson et Juliana Driever, qui soutient fièrement les artistes-parents et les gardien·ne·s, ainsi que leur participation professionnelle au monde de l'art. S'appuyant sur dix années, LDR crée une présence radicale pour les familles dans des espaces où elles sont généralement absentes, en plaçant le soin et la défense de leurs intérêts au cœur de son organisation et de son cadre conceptuel. 

Les familles sont bienvenues. Un espace d’allaitement, un stationnement pour poussettes ainsi que des collations et du jus seront disponibles. L'espace est accessible aux fauteuils roulants. 

Soyez des notres le 23 juillet à 18 h, pour la pièce "The Cycles", de Rachel Kauder Nalebuff, interprétée par trois comédiens, qui prendra place dans la galerie.
