Adam Mbowe – I Knew This Place Before

I Knew This Place Before is a diaristic short film by Adam Mbowe presented as a series of vignettes unfolding across the wall of the gallery’s Black Box. Projected into picture frames like a family photo arrangement, the film tells the story of the rapid transformation of the Gambia. Using photos, videos and paper animation, each frame becomes a window into memory, myth, and loss, blurring the line between personal archive and national change.

Join us in company of the artist for the opening reception on September 3, 5 to 7 p.m.

The exhibition will be presented in the Black Box of the FOFA Gallery until December 12.

Je connaissais cette place avant est un court métrage diaristique, présenté sous forme de vignettes qui se déploient sur le mur de la boîte noire de la galerie. Projeté dans des cadres comme un arrangement de photos de famille, le film raconte l’histoire de la transformation rapide de la Gambie. À l’aide de photos, de vidéos et d’animations sur papier, chaque cadre devient une fenêtre sur la mémoire, le mythe et la perte, brouillant la frontière entre l’archive personnelle et le changement national.
