Dr. Robert Eno

2026 marks the 45th anniversary of the adoption of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, a treaty that laid the foundation for the broader regional system for human rights enforcement, monitoring, and promotion in Africa.

This system is comprised of several judicial and quasi-judicial institutions at the regional and sub-regional levels. Over the decades, the African human rights system has protected individual and collective rights across the continent and enjoys the support of numerous civil society groups.

Join us for a lecture by Dr. Robert Eno on the African human rights system and the challenges it faces.

About the speaker

Robert Eno has served as the Registrar for the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights — Africa’s regional human rights court — since 2011. In his nearly three-decade long career, Dr. Eno has amassed expertise on the African human rights system through his experience in international law, human rights law, international humanitarian law, and the rule of law, amongst other domains.

This event is organized by the Global Governance Centre at Concordia (G2C2). All are welcome to attend, especially students interested in human rights and the regional system in Africa.
