LaTeX is a markup language used to format text into a pdf. The aim of this talk is to give participants the foundations to collaborate with other LaTeX users and produce their own papers. Specifically, at the end of this talk, expect to be able to:

  1. Compile a LaTeX document
  2. Understand LaTeX’s structure
  3. Manage internal references
  4. Import figures
  5. Create tables
  6. Write simple equations
  7. Manage the bibliography

This talk assumes no prior knowledge of LaTeX or programming. It is designed to bring Word users to a functional understanding of LaTeX, not convert them to it. Please bring your own computer - this will be a hands-on talk!
