What are some actions, practices, standards, and adjustments that we can make around campus to help mitigate climate change?
Addressing climate change is a complex and multifaceted challenge that requires systemic changes, such as government policies, international agreements, new technological innovation, and corporate responsibility. However, our actions as a community here at Concordia University can still play a significant role as a beginning for collective change, can influence other big institutions, shows advocacy, and demonstrates our commitment to sustainable practices which can altogether lead to substantial behaviour change, emission reductions, and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
The Climate Emergency Committee wants to hear from you! Come join us for a brainstorming session on things that we can do around campus (for starters) to address the complex and urgent issue of climate change. Bring any ideas that you have, come discuss some ideas with us, and hear what other people come up with. The first step is to think of feasible ideas at this event, then our committee will work on making those ideas come to fruition throughout the year.
Our goal is to create an environment at Concordia where individuals find it easier and more practical to make sustainable choices. Together, we can turn ideas into actions and make a meaningful impact on the world around us. Let’s harness the power of collective thinking and creativity to drive positive change beginning at Concordia and shape the future that we want to see!
