An occasional poem is a poem people turn to—a poem that is shared. In anticipation for the launch of the Coach House anthology On Occasion: Poems for the People, edited by Sina Queyras, Writers Read will host a celebration of occasional poetry on Friday March 20 at 7:30PM at York Amphitheatre (EV 1.605), featuring readings by a slate of Montreal-based talent: Stephanie Bolster, T. Liem, Ethel Meilleur, Misha Solomon, Chanel Sutherland, Lena Palacios, Sabyah Seyam, and Sina Queyras. Advance copies of the anthology will be available for purchase.

Writers Read is part of Concordia University’s Creative Writing program and is supported by the Department of English and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Writers Read, directed by Professor Sina Queyras since 2011, invites renowned and emerging authors, both Canadian and international, to read from and discuss their work with students and local audiences. In addition to readings, the series includes Master Classes and professional developmental activities spanning the school year.

These events are free and open to all. Be sure to follow Writers Read on Instagram @writersreadconcordia and visit our website for more updates concordiawritersread.com
