I will be discussing patient perspective research as a transition from health literacy to health agency. Co-creating a community of care outside of healthcare.

Objectives:

  • Exploring the relationship between scientific and philosophical approaches to research. 
  • Describing how qualitative research can inform the creation of person centred projects.
  • Learning to listen.
Speaker Bio:

Richard B. Hovey, PhD is an Associate Professor in the division of Oral Health and Society, Faculty of Dentistry, McGill University. Through a philosophical hermeneutic approach, researching the complex experiences of people living with chronic pain, illness and medical error.
