Where

Online

Open to students in engineering and computer science related programs including recent grads from 2017-2020 only.

Meet with employers online and learn about career opportunities and skills employers are looking for. You’ll get a chance to gather important information about job search and make connections in your field.

How it works:

  • You must pre-register and create a profile. Make sure to upload a resume and any other relevant information such as LinkedIn Profile or Personal Domain
  • You have the option to schedule individual virtual appointments with recruiters
  • Platform is mobile and desktop friendly

Get ready for the fair

How to Impress and Succeed:

  • Go through the Career Fair Plus demo so you are familiar with how the platform works
  • Dress professionally for video chats
  • Do your research before event date: read about the companies, get familiar with what they do (i.e. their projects, services, products, clients etc), study their job postings and prepare questions you want to ask recruiters
  • Read the career fair tips available on the Career Fair Plus platform to help you prepare and make a great impression
  • Prepare your introduction: identify your major, graduation date, whether you are looking for an internship or full-time job and share key skills. You’ll also want to highlight your accomplishments and experience that will transfer to company needs. Be prepared to tell them why they are an ideal employer.
  • Note that some employers will only speak French: if you are not fluent but are enrolled in French classes let them know and show your eagerness to learn
  • Follow company social media pages
  • Use Linkedin to connect with employees (i.e. recruiters, managers, alumni, and interns) and let them know you are looking forward to meeting their team at the Concordia Virtual Career Fair
  • After the fair, follow up with a thank you note on LinkedIn with representatives you met at the fair. This is a great way to confirm your interest in the company and to stay in touch. Let them know you plan to apply and what position you to apply for.

Sample Questions to ask company representatives

  • Can you tell me more about job posting X - what kind of person are you looking for? What challenges may I expect in this role?
  • What kinds of projects do new hires/interns work on when hired?
  • What skills do new hires/interns have that make them thrive in your company?
  • What kinds of entry level opportunities does your company offer other than the ones posted on your site?
  • What can you tell me about the recruitment process and what advice do you have to best prepare?
  • Are there any events, activities or additional training you would recommend that would help me be better prepared for an interview or position with your company?
  • Do you have key recruitment periods and when are they?
  • Is there anything else I should know that would help me get an interview and position with your company?

Think of your own questions to ask! Be original.
