The exhibition is a collection of photographs and artwork with accompanying thoughts from students registered with Concordia’s Access Centre for Students with Disabilities (ACSD). Rallying around the theme “See___ through my eyes”, each student wrote a phrase to accompany the images they created to symbolize or express their feelings about disability to raise awareness about the realities they face day-to-day.

Participatory creative projects like this are a growing trend for awareness-raising initiatives around the world, precisely because they enable those directly affected by an issue to have a voice in how aspects are represented and how awareness is raised.

The stories told here are snapshots of the lives of students with disabilities, as active members of both the Concordia and broader Montreal community.

Our intent, as organizers, is that you will come away with a greater understanding of their experience, and for a moment, see through their eyes.
