Preparing to move
Get an overview of what to expect when moving in and out of residence, and how to prepare.
Moving in: what you need to know
- Move-in for winter 2027 will begin on January 3, 2027.
- Monitor your Concordia email address for a message inviting you to book a time slot and date.
- We strongly encourage you to plan to arrive on campus during move-in weekend.
- If you chose to arrive in Montreal before your lease starts, please keep in mind we cannot accommodate you in residence.
- If you're arriving from outside Canada, you'll need to arrange for your own transportation to campus, since Residence Life does not offer airport pick up. Learn how to get to your destination from the airport.
- When you signed your lease, you agreed to abide by a code of conduct. It's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the code before you move in.
Room and mail box keys
Residence Life will give you a room key and a mail box key when you move in. You must return both keys at the end of the lease. If you misplace your keys, you can let us know and we will provide you with a replacement. There is a fee of $35 for each replacement key.
Access card
You will need an access card to gain entry into a residence building. Our Campus Safety team will be available during move-in to issue your card. You will see a fee of $23 in your student account for the access card.
If you are not present during move-in, a member of the team will direct you to the nearest campus safety office to obtain your card.
Student ID card
It's important to start the process of getting your first student ID card as soon as you can, so that it's ready for you by the time you move in. You'll need your ID card to start using your meal plan.
Keep in mind that unfortunately we cannot accept mail or other deliveries before you move in, meaning they will be returned to sender.
