Once Residence Life emails you a conditional offer, your next step is to pay the $1,500 confirmation fee by the date indicated in your offer letter.
You will also need to sign a lease by the deadline.
Other requirements:
- Paying for your fall term meal plan in full
- Attending a mandatory virtual info session
- Having your immigrations documents in hand (if applicable)
Paying the confirmation fee
- In your Student Centre, scroll down to Admissions.
- Click Residence Confirmation Fee. Payment methods include VISA, MasterCard or American Express, but not bank transfer.
- Look for a confirmation email once we verify your payment. Please allow at least two business days.
$1,125 of the confirmation fee will be credited to your student account and applied to your first months rent. $375 of the confirmation fee will pay the mandatory infrastructure fee. If you subsequently need to cancel your offer, keep in mind that $750 of the confirmation fee is non-refundable.
Signing the lease
Read your lease carefully. By signing, you’re committing to paying your rent for the duration of the period the lease covers monthly via your student account.
Be aware that the law allows for termination of the lease only under certain circumstances. Read more about leases in Quebec.
International students
Before you can move into residence, you must upload your immigration documents in your Student Centre by the deadline.
American citizens or green card holders
- August 15: approved CAQ
- By move-in day: approved study permit
All other international students
- July 15: approved CAQ and proof of study permit application
- August 15: Study Permit letter of introduction
If you cannot upload your immigration documents by the deadline, we will cancel your room offer and place you on a waitlist. We may be able to accommodate you in one of our residences, based on availability, or in our off-campus affiliate, once you upload your immigration documents.
You may opt to join a waitlist if Residence Life does not have a room to offer you. In the event someone cancels their plans to live on campus, and a room becomes available, we will let you know.
Please note you need to apply first before you can join the waitlist.
Cancelling your room
You can cancel your room offer before the start of the lease date by contacting the Residence Life team.
Keep in mind that withdrawing from your courses or notifying your department you will not be attending Concordia is not enough — you must also contact Residence Life to cancel your room offer, or face cancellation fees.
Cancellation fees
Fall term
- Until July 31 inclusive: $750
- August 1 to lease start date: $1,125
- After lease start date: $1,125 plus one month's rent (pro-rated over 30 days)

If you do not arrive in time for move-in weekend and you have not contacted us, we must cancel your room offer. You will be responsible for paying the first month's rent and you will forfeit your confirmation payment. It's important to know that we won't make any exceptions. Your best policy is to notify us in advance so that we can assist you.
Required immigration documents
One of the requirements of your conditional room offer, is that you have your immigration documents by a certain deadline. If you do not have your documents by this deadline, we will return you to the waitlist and liberate your room.
If you are on the waitlist and eventually meet the criteria for Residence or to study, we will do our best to provide you a room in Residence, if space is available, or with our preferred partner CAMPUS1.
If you are planning to defer your offer of admission to Concordia to winter term, we ask that you provide at least two weeks notice before the lease start date. Regular cancellation fees apply. You may apply to live in residence again once applications open for the winter term.
Please email the Residence Life team at residenceinfo@concordia.ca and we will waive your application fee.

An important note
You agreed to abide by the community code of conduct when you submitted your application. Designed to create an excellent experience for everyone living on campus, you'll also be asked to sign a copy when you move into residence. If you don't abide by the code, you could face having your lease cancelled.
The university may need to terminate your lease if we have to close the residence if a public health emergency makes that necessary. You'll find details in your room offer.
