Lea Watrin

Strategic Outreach Officer

Lea Watrin is a Strategic Outreach Officer at MIGS. Born in France, Lea came to Canada in 2009 to complete a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Human Rights at Concordia University. While finishing her Bachelor's in 2012, she started volunteering at MIGS conducting research for data collection and supporting with grant proposals. In 2014, as she was starting her Master's in Conflict Studies Lea continued to be involved with MIGS by taking the position of Coordinator for the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Prevention of Genocide and other Crimes Against Humanity, a role she kept for 2 years.

After completing her Master's degree, Lea moved to Toronto where she worked at Plan International Canada for 3 years in various capacities, including managing projects in South and Central America. For the past 2 years, she has been managing a portfolio of projects in East Africa as well as submitting grant proposals to a variety of donors including government and UN entities and private foundations for War Child Canada until she came back to MIGS.

Lea is particularly interested in mass atrocity prevention, gender, sustainability and the impact of education on human rights.
