Greetings!

I am a Professor at the Department of Political Science and Director of the Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies at Concordia University since 2011. I received my PhD from the University of British Columbia in 2000 and have been at Concordia University ever since. My research in Comparative Politics focusses on political parties and legislative politics in a variety of democratic settings such as Israel, Eastern Europe and India. In addition to my research articles, I have published two scholarly monographs, Minority Government in India (Routledge 2010) and Institutional Design and Party Government in Post-Communist Democracies (Oxford University Press, 2014) and my third book on Party Switching in Israeli Politics is currently under review. I am founding Series Editor of the McGill-Queen’s-Azrieli Institute Series in Israel Studies and was former English Co-Editor of the Canadian Journal of Political Science (2006-11). Currently, I am a member of the Editorial Board of the Israel Studies Journal and the Contemporary Review of the Middle East. I have won several research grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and other agencies. My international appointments include a number of visiting and guest professorships including the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Australian National University, O.P Jindal Global University, and Martin-Luther-University, Halle-Wittenberg. My recent service contributions include chairing the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada Post-Doctoral Fellowship Selection Committee, chairing the Azrieli Foundation International Post-Doctoral Fellowship Committee (Social Sciences), having served as Chair of the Department of Political Science and serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Israel Studies.

In 2017, I pioneered the annual Summer in Jerusalem program, a unique international collaboration between the Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies and the Rothberg School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
