Linda Dyer studies the organizational impact of demographic diversity, specifically in age, gender, and ethnicity. A second stream of research focuses on interpersonal relationships among the owner-managers of small firms and their employees, and owner-managers' interactions with professional business advisors. A current project explores age stereotypes and how they might affect the self-efficacy of mid-career and late-career employees. Her methodological approach is largely qualitative, focused on interviews, content analysis and thematic analysis, and draws on base theories of individual cognition, cognitive biases, learning and the interplay between emotions and cognition.
She has published articles in journals such as the Journal of Managerial Psychology, the Journal of Small Business Management, the International Journal of Small Business, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, as well as chapters in various books.
