Meet the Associate Vice-President, Human Resources
Isabelle Blais
Isabelle Blais oversees the unit responsible for fostering a positive employee experience and ensuring the effective delivery of the university’s people‑focused programs and services. She guides teams across benefits and pension, compensation, employment and organizational development, labour relations, payroll and HR systems.
As associate vice-president, Human Resources, Blais is responsible for:
- Developing structures and capabilities that strengthen the employee experience and advance the university’s mission and operational priorities
- Providing strategic, people‑centred HR leadership that supports a healthy, engaged and high‑performing work environment
- Ensuring the consistent delivery of HR programs and services for more than 6,500 faculty and staff across the university
- Championing wellbeing and advancing equity, diversity and inclusion across the university
- Leading the negotiation and implementation of collective agreements and promoting positive, constructive and inclusive labour relations across all employee groups
Prior to her appointment in 2026, Blais served as vice-president of legal affairs, human resources and secretary general at the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ). She also held senior roles at Vidéotron and Québecor Media over nearly 15 years, including director general of human resources.
A lawyer by training, Blais holds Civil Law and Common Law degrees from McGill University.
