TASK FORCE IMPLEMENTATION
Overview
In fall 2020, Concordia launched the President’s Task Force on Anti-Black Racism to carefully study and understand how anti-Black racism manifests across the university.
Following two years of community consultations, interviews, archival research, literature reviews, town halls, and stakeholder conversations with the university’s Black faculty, staff, students and alumni, the task force released its final report in 2022.
Implementation of the recommendations
Concordia’s Black Perspectives Office is responsible for implementing student and staff facing recommendations by working transversally across the university and with external partners to address a broad spectrum of university policies, including in hiring and promotion, as well as teaching and learning practices, to improve the experiences of the university's Black faculty, staff, and students.
This work is part of Concordia’s commitment to confront the historic and continued impact of colonialism and white supremacy on Indigenous peoples of Canada, people of African descent and racialized peoples.
