Black Perspectives Office fund for Black-led and Black-centered research initiatives
Funding that supports new or ongoing Black-led and Black-centred research initiatives at Concordia University.
Overview
The fund aims to support new or ongoing Black-led and Black-centred research initiatives at Concordia University that focus on:
- Raising awareness of the accomplishments, contributions, and experiences of Black people in Canada
- Addressing anti-Black racism and other issues affecting Black communities in Canada to improve social, economic and other outcomes
Criteria
Project applications must demonstrate the impact of the research initiatives in one or more of the following areas:
- Teaching, learning and research
- Community relationships and activism
- Government policy and action
- Awareness and education around Black Canadian experiences
Research or research dissemination focused on underrepresented identities and groups within Black communities in Canada will be prioritized. They include disability, religion, sexual and gender identity.
Eligibility
We are considering applications from:
- Concordia undergraduate and graduate students
- Concordia faculty
- Concordia staff
Funding
Eligible projects may be awarded up to $1,000 in funding.
Applicants may submit applications for more than one project; however, only one project per applicant may be funded.

Retention awards for black scholars
This award will be distributed over two terms and is available to newly admitted and current PhD students who maintain good academic standing.
