Usage of student services

Similar to the 2022 results, a minority of Concordia students use student services. However, the rate of usage on a per a semester basis or more increased in 2023. Broken down further:

  • 27% use Academic Support and Development student services such as the Student Success Centre, Access Centre for Students with Disabilities, and Concordia International. 
  • 26% use services or are members of organizations related to Student Life such as student groups and associations, 4th Space, intramural sports and Le Gym, representing an increase from 20% in 2022. 
  • 11% access specialized student support (e.g., Black Perspectives Office, Otsenhákta Student Centre, Student Parents Centre, International Students Office). Usage of these services increased from 2022 (9%). 
  • Finally, 5% use services related to conduct, policies, and procedures (e.g., Ombuds Office, Office of Rights and Responsibilities, Sexual Assault Resource Centre). 
  • Academic Support and Development services are accessed more by a higher proportion of students with a disability (51%), Indigenous students (46%), students with temporary resident status (37%), and/or members of a gender-diverse community (31%).
  • A higher proportion of full-time students (30%), men (29%), and those aged under 25 years old (29%) use Student Life services at least once a semester. 
  • We observe higher usage rates of services related to conduct, policies, and procedures among students who identify as members of a gender-diverse community (9%) and/ or Indigenous person (10%). 

Approximately 11% percent of students report not being aware of these services.
