Call for Posters: AI and Sustainability

Applied AI Institute, the program on Leadership in Environmental and Digital innovation for Sustainability (LEADS) and Sustainability in the Digital Age are pleased to announce the call for applications from graduate students specializing in research at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Sustainability. This is an opportunity to present your research in the form of a digital poster (guidelines will be provided) and network with your peers, industry professionals, and interdisciplinary researchers.

Date: January 18th 3:00-5:00 PM
Location: 4TH SPACE

Topics of Interest

  • Sustainable AI for environmental preservation
  • Sustainable energy management leveraging AI
  • Ethical AI applications in the context of sustainable development
  • AI-powered agricultural practices and food security
  • AI-enhanced waste management and recycling systems
  • Other sustainability science research that could leverage AI tools

Application Guidelines

  • Open to graduate students pursuing Masters or PhD degrees and postdocs
  • Submission of a 250-word abstract outlining your research
  • Accompany your application with a concise CV highlighting your academic achievements
  • Application deadline has now been extended to December 15th
  • Notification of acceptance will be issued by December 12th

We invite you to be part of our effort to advance the field of AI and Sustainability, as we collectively work towards a more sustainable and responsible future.

Criteria for Acceptance

  • The research should clearly align with the topics of interest mentioned in the call, or  other relevant research in sustainability science that could align with or benefit from AI application.
  • The 250-word research abstract should be well-written, clear, and provide acomprehensive overview of the research, including its objectives, methods, and expected outcomes.
  • Applicants should exhibit effective communication skills and convey their research in a way that can be easily understood by a diverse audience, including industry professionals and scholars.
  • The selection committee may consider the potential for the applicant's research to make a meaningful contribution to the field of AI and Sustainability.
  • The proposed research and its applications should align with ethical guidelines and principles, especially when dealing with AI in the context of sustainability.
