Be Aware. Move with Care.

Every fall, hundreds of new students arrive on our campuses. It’s an exciting time. This year, in addition to increased traffic on the Sir George Williams Campus, there is ongoing construction on the corner of Guy Street and De Maisonneuve Boulevard.

This why we’re reminding you to exercise caution as you make your way to class.

Read these 5 ways to stay safe on campus.

Here are a few things to note:

  • The City of Montreal has installed temporary water mains that may pose a challenge to the mobility and vision impaired: The large pipes laid above ground along the sidewalks have ramps at the intersections that are steep in some areas.
  • When crossing De Maisonneuve Boulevard, be sure to look both ways and be mindful of the two-lane bicycle path.
  • With temporary fences, orange construction pylons, machinery and multiple crews working, be uber aware of your surroundings when crossing the street or riding your bike.

Avoid the construction areas: use the tunnels where possible.

The city plans to have the pipes removed by mid-September, thereby alleviating the traffic and congestion. Bookmark this regularly updated article about the Guy Street construction and check it out often.

Be careful out there and have a great term!
