Hexagram network announces new directors
The Hexagram Research-Creation Network is pleased to announce the appointment of Alice Jarry (PhD in Art Studies and Practices, UQAM) as co-director, representing Concordia University. She joins Sofian Audry (PhD in Humanities - Fine Arts, Concordia), who has been representing the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) since 2021. The team welcomes the addition of Alice Jarry and the appointment of Nadia Seraiocco (PhD in Communications, UQAM) as the Network Coordinator.
Since 2001, Hexagram has been an interdisciplinary network dedicated to research-creation, weaving together the arts, cultures, and technologies. It brings together over forty co-researchers, forty collaborators, and just over two hundred students from various disciplines, including the performing arts, visual arts, design, and media arts, as well as the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and engineering.
A new generation developped by the Network
As the representative of Concordia, Alice Jarry succeeds both Christopher Salter (2014-2022) and Jonathan Lessard (interim, 2022-2023). This transition marks a significant change in the governance of the Network, both in substance and symbolism. It signifies the shift to a new generation of artist-researchers. Similar to Sofian Audry, Alice Jarry's professional and academic career is closely intertwined with Hexagram's development. By appointing former student members as co-directors, the Network reaffirms its deep commitment to nurturing the next generation of research-creation artists.
Scientific co-direction embraces contemporary concerns
Hexagram is dedicated to forging and strengthening connections between artistic and scientific disciplines. The new co-directors are committed to fostering conditions conducive to the development of innovative creations and advancing new knowledge, driven by socio-environmental concerns and the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Sofian Audry and Alice Jarry aim to sustain active collaborations within the network while undertaking research-creation related to critical issues, taking into account both human and more-than-human perspectives: exploring new materialities, addressing ecological challenges, examining the performativity of living organisms and artificial agents.
Serving research and creation
With the appointment of its new General Coordinator, the Network benefits from Nadia Seraiocco's extensive experience in communications, journalism, and project management. Her arrival coincides with the creation of the position of Communications Manager, filled by Fanny Latreille-Beaumont.
The new team also draws on the experience of Karine Schutt-Kimpton, who will provide administrative support on the Concordia side.
The growth of the Network, now with almost 300 members, is a testament to the tangible impact Hexagram has on shaping emerging research. With this organizational reshuffle, Hexagram is expressing an ambitious vision and tapping into a wealth of diversified expertise.

Le Réseau de recherche-création Hexagram accueille Alice Jarry (Doctorat en études et pratiques des arts, UQAM) à sa codirection pour représenter l’Université Concordia. Elle se joint à Sofian Audry (Doctorat en sciences humaines - beaux-arts, Concordia), qui représente depuis 2021 l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). L’équipe se renouvelle avec l’entrée en fonction d’Alice Jarry et l’arrivée de Nadia Seraiocco (Doctorat en communications, UQAM) à la coordination du Réseau.
Hexagram est un réseau interdisciplinaire qui se consacre depuis 2001 à la recherche-création et tisse des relations entre les arts, les cultures et les technologies. Il regroupe plus d’une quarantaine de cochercheuses et cochercheurs , une quarantaine de collaboratrices et collaborateurs et un peu plus de deux cents étudiantes et étudiants de différentes disciplines liées notamment aux arts vivants, aux arts visuels, au design et aux arts médiatiques, mais aussi aux sciences sociales et humaines et aux sciences naturelles et du génie.
Une relève développée par le réseau
À titre de représentante de l’établissement partenaire Concordia, Alice Jarry succède à Christopher Salter (2014-2022) et à Jonathan Lessard (intérim, 2022-2023). Cette relève marque une importante transition dans la gouvernance du Réseau à la fois factuelle et symbolique. Elle représente le passage d’une nouvelle génération d’artistes en recherche-création. Tout comme Sofian Audry, le parcours professionnel et académique d’Alice Jarry est lié de près au développement d’Hexagram. En nommant à sa direction des personnes impliquées comme membres lors de leurs études, le Réseau réaffirme son engagement profond auprès de la relève en recherche-création.
Une codirection scientifique qui incarne les enjeux actuels
Hexagram a pour objectif d’établir et consolider des liens entre les disciplines artistiques et scientifiques. La nouvelle codirection souhaite maintenir les conditions favorables au développement de créations innovantes et faire la promotion de nouveaux savoirs, guidée par des préoccupations socio-environnementales et les principes d’équité, de diversité et d’inclusion. Ainsi, Sofian Audry et Alice Jarry désirent maintenir les collaborations actives au sein du réseau tout en développant la recherche-création liée à des enjeux critiques, considérant l’humain et le plus qu’humain : les nouvelles matérialités, les questions écologiques, la performativité du vivant et des agents artificiels.
Au service de la recherche-création
En se dotant d’une nouvelle coordination générale, le Réseau bénéficie de la vaste expérience en communication, journalisme et gestion de projet de Nadia Seraiocco pour enrichir ses pratiques. Son entrée en fonction correspond à la création du poste de responsable des communications, assuré par Fanny Latreille-Beaumont.
La nouvelle équipe peut aussi compter sur l’expérience de Karine Schutt-Kimpton qui assurera le soutien administratif du côté de Concordia.
La croissance du Réseau, avec près de 300 membres, témoigne de l’impact tangible qu’a Hexagram sur l’encadrement de la recherche émergente. Avec ce remaniement organisationnel, Hexagram exprime une vision ambitieuse et s’appuie sur une expertise riche et diversifiée.
